Literature:
- Elements of Fiction: plot, setting, characterization, conflict, theme, allusion, author’s purpose, making inferences, context clues, drawing conclusions, mood, tone
- Elements of Nonfiction: main idea, text organization, author’s purpose, making inferences, context clues, drawing conclusions, mood, tone
- Elements of Poetry: SOAPS, rhyme, free verse, imagery, metaphor, simile, alliteration, personification, onomatopoeia, poet vs. speaker, speaker’s attitude, mood, tone
Grammar and Usage:
- Quotation Marks/Punctuating Dialogue
- Using Verbs Correctly (Subject/Verb Agreement & Using Irregular Verbs)
- Complete Sentences, Sentence Fragments, Run-Ons/Comma Splices
- Troublesome Words
